In the Christian religions Jesus is considered to be the son of God. He was put on Earth to save the eternal soul of humanity and to spread the word of God. While the Jewish and Islamic religions do not considered Jesus to be the messiah they do acknowledge that he existed. According to religious test Jesus was born in the Holy Land in the Middle East.

Many people that follow the Christian religion state that Jesus was born in a town of Bethlehem in Judea. According to religious text Jesus was born in a manger. At the actual time of the birth of Jesus the town of Bethlehem was not officially called by this name.
The town of Bethlehem is on the West Banks. It is close to the city of Jerusalem. The city of Jerusalem is known in many religious as the holy city and is considered to be the Promised Land for those that follow the way of the lord. Bethlehem is considered by millions of people to be the birthplace of Jesus. According to information in the New Testament the apostles where living in the town of Bethlehem. Matthew, Joseph, and Mary lived in this town and they lived in the southern reason known as Judea. At the time of the birth Joseph and Mary were living here when Jesus was born.
What Happened After Jesus Was Born?
Once Jesus was born Mary and Joseph moved with him to the town of Nazareth. Nazareth was located in the northern part of a region that was known as Galilee. According to the teachings of the apostle Luke Joseph and Mary while she was pregnant made the 90 mile journey from the town of Nazareth to Bethlehem. Bethlehem was the home town of Joseph and he was very familiar with this area. The apostles at this time agreed that Jesus was born in Bethlehem in the area of Judea. This was the city where King David had been born over a thousand years before him. This would make Jesus a descendant from the House of David. This is believed in both the Christian and the Jewish religion.
Apostles Luke and Matthew do considered Bethlehem to be the city where Jesus was born. The Israel Antiquities Authority has stated that Bethlehem was the ancient city during the Iron Age. The Iron Age was home to the fourth century Church of the Nativity. This was associated with the time of the Byzantine Empire. During the time in history when Jesus was born there is no information from this society. The antiquities do not have any information from the time period that is said to be the time in history when Jesus was born.
The birthplace of Jesus has been investigated for a number of years. While many religious believe that Jesus was born in Bethlehem, many historians are not fully convinced of this. In the early part of the 1990s an archaeologist that was working for the IAA society was in the town of Galilee looking for old buildings and infrastructures from the past. According to this historian and people that live in the area there is reason to believe that Jesus was born in the town of Galilee. Many people especially religious figures are not fully convinced of this and they want more proof to believe that Jesus was not born in Bethlehem.
While many still wonder where was Jesus born historians in addition to religious leaders agree that Jesus existed in a historical context at least. According to historians Jesus was a Galilean Jew who began to preach in his own Ministry and became known as a rabbi. He was then arrested by Jewish authorities and crucified. Jesus would spread the teachings of God, perform healing to people in need, and gathered followers to follow the Lord. After his death is was believed by Christians that he rose from the dead.
The date on which Jesus was born is in question as well as the place of his birth. Many people and religious text believe that Jesus was born on December 25th. Others believe that Jesus was born sometime in the month of January. After his birth Jesus became known as Jesus of Nazareth which was unusual because people that lived during this time period were only referenced to by one name.
While religious figures agree that Jesus was born to Mary and Joseph the prophets Matthew and Luke stated that Jesus has ancestry to Abraham though David. Luke was able to trance Jesus’ ancestry back to Adam. According to both Luke and Matthew, Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
According to the Bible Joseph had three dreams in which the angles stated to take Mary as his wife because the baby she was carrying was the baby of the Holy Spirits. The wise man Magi also warns Mary and Joseph that Herod the Great hears of the birth of Jesus and wants him killed. He orders that all male infants in the town of Bethlehem be killed. The family then leaves for Egypt but later returns to the city of Nazareth where they make their home. As a small child Jesus lived in the town of Nazareth which is part of Galilee. He lived there with Mary and Joseph and other family members. When Jesus became an adult he worked as a carpenter. He would also spread the word about God and his religious teachings to people. Jesus then appointed twelve apostles to his ministry. They went around spreading the word of God and about his teachings. Jesus traveled throughout the Middle East. This land is modern day Israel, Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. Now people tend to fight over the Promised Land and trying to claim the birth place of Jesus.
So Where Was Jesus Born?
According to historians and the Old Testament Jesus was indeed born in the town of Bethlehem. While he later did travel to Nazareth, Bethlehem is said to be the birth place of Jesus who is the Messiah in many religions.
